About NJBIN

Mission

The mission of the New Jersey Business Incubation Network is to accelerate economic growth through business incubation and innovation and actively promote the value of incubation and its contribution to the state’s economy.

Vision

New Jersey will be recognized nationally for its excellence in technology-based economic growth through incubation. The ability of New Jersey’s incubators to build and leverage productive academic, business and government relationships to grow jobs will be unparalleled in the nation. With quantifiable results and an impressive portfolio of services and facilities, New Jersey incubators will be:

  • The Place to Be for start-up companies and commercialized technologies.
  • Flagship Assets recognized by legislators and government officials as a way to grow higher paying jobs.
  • A Critical Economic Development Tool in the implementation of the Economic Growth Strategy.


Membership

There are two types of members:

1) Full Member:
Any incubator located in New Jersey that has applied and been approved by a simple majority of the Full Members. There are currently 12 Full Members.

2) Associate Member
Any organization interested in starting an incubator program in the state of New Jersey that has applied and been approved by a simple majority of the Full Members. Associate Members are non-voting members.

Suzanne Zammit is incubator manager of the Rutgers Camden Business Incubator. She has had a more than 20-year career of increasing professional responsibility and authority in new product development, sales, marketing, training and management with firms across Southern New Jersey. She joined the Rutgers Camden Technology Campus in September 2007 as program coordinator and was promoted to incubator manager in September 2008. In this role, Zammit attracts, develops and retains new businesses with high growth potential to foster economic growth and business success in Camden and across the region. She provides professional mentoring, business services and management assistance to these early-stage emerging companies and their employees along with access to venture capital and other supportive services. Zammit served as vice president of the NJBIN during 2010-2011. She is enrolled at Rutgers Camden and plans to obtain her MBA in Business Management.

Ketan N. Gandhi is an experienced senior level media executive with more than twenty years of experience in developing profitable business operations. He is currently dean of Corporate College at Burlington County College. Previously, he was president and publisher of Broad Street Publishing and president and publisher of the Home News Tribune and Courier News, where he was recognized as the first publisher of South Asian descent to lead a mainstream American newspaper. He has also served as vice president of finance and online at the New Jersey Group; director of finance at various locations; and controller at the Star-Gazette in Elmira, New York. He holds an MBA from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting from Bombay University. He is a 2011 honoree of Who’s Who in America, a visiting professor at DeVry University, a board member of the Cherry Hill Regional Chamber of Commerce and a former board member of the Central Jersey Chamber of Commerce, the Jewish Renaissance Foundation, and the Indian Chamber of Commerce.

Rosa A. Szeliga is the program coordinator for The Commercialization Center for Innovative Technologies (CCIT), the New Jersey Economic Development Authority
(NJEDA) incubator facility dedicated to life science and biotechnology companies. She has been associated with CCIT since its opening in 2002. She has served as Secretary of NJBIN for the past two years and holds a Bachelor Degree from Seton Hall University.

Jerry Creighton, Sr. is executive director of the Enterprise Development Center (EDC) at NJIT. The EDC is New Jersey’s largest high-technology business incubator
with over ninety (90) portfolio companies. He has an extensive background in management and consulting spanning multiple facets of strategy development,
operational management, finance, and venture transaction planning and implementation. His background includes business development, business planning, mergers & acquisitions, joint venture integration, financial services, marketing, operations and sales support. Mr. Creighton’s career includes business ownership and key management assignments with major international companies such as AT&T, Lucent Technologies and Deutsche Telekom /T-Systems, as well as consulting engagements for start-up / early stage companies and for a merchant bank involved in leveraged buyouts and roll-ups.
